About the Hawaii Forest Institute
In 2003, the Hawai'i Forest Industry Association (HFIA) formed the Hawai'i
Forest Institute (HFI), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The purpose of the
Institute is to promote the health and productivity of Hawai'i forests
through scientific research and public education. The HFI published the
first issue of the Hawai'i Forest Journal in June 2006 and the second in
September 2007. The Journal would not be possible without the support of
the A & B Foundation, Will J. Reid Foundation, HFIA, Martin & MacArthur, PIA
Sports Properties, Agro Resources, Inc., Tradewinds Forest Products, and
Hawaii Division of Forestry and Wildlife.
