Aloha,
September 2000
The Hawai‘i Forest Industry Association is pleased to present this Forest Industry Resource Guide and Directory to our friends in both the local and national business and design communities.
Contained in these pages are some background information on forestry in Hawai‘i, a current listing of entrepreneurs and agencies who are involved in the forest industry, and a sample catalog of some of our woodworkers’ distinguished products. We hope that this information will be useful and enlightening.
Hawaii’s forest industry is diverse; it includes tree nurseries, professional consulting foresters, owners and operators of woodlots and tree farms, wood-workers and fine craftsmen, sawyers, mill operators, ecotourism businesses, wood product wholesalers, galleries, and many other entrepreneurs who produce fine woods and the high quality products made from local timber. Many of those active in our industry are listed in these pages.
Mahalo nui loa to the partners who have made this resource guide possible, including the Hawai‘i Manufacturing Extension Partnership, the USDA Forest Service, the State of Hawai‘i Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, the State of Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources and other agencies of the Hawai‘i Forestry and Communities Initiative, Na Hoa Mahi‘ai.
Thank you for your interest and support. HFIA welcomes your comments and suggestions as our industry, dedicated to responsible practices which promote healthy and productive forests, expands and diversifies.
Mahalo,

Sally Rice
